The Professional Public Relations Conference ( PPR 101) brings media execs from BET, MTV, The Source, Allhiphop.com, and many more to scout talent in The Bay Area - PROFESSIONAL PUBLIC RELATIONS 101 CONFERENCE (PPR101) is a multi-city tour that seeks to educate, enlighten and empower tomorrow’s urban trendsetters on increasing exposure via newspapers, magazines, websites and video shows. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in dialogue with top entertainment journalists, editors, critics, publicists, marketers and television show hosts. PPR 101 is co sponsored by Sesac Publishing, Digi Waxx, Fashion Fetish and DIVAdend Entertainment & Public Relations Firm. Panel discussions, power networking and one on one sessions will be offered. Registrants can learn, from a publicist, the role of a publicist, what to expect from this service, the costs, etc. From top editors they can learn how to get on national websites, television shows and in magazines. There is also a controversial panels dubbed industry vs in the streets, this is the business of entertainment. (See attached itinerary). The fifth stop of the PPR101 tour will be Berkeley, California, on Saturday May 30, 2009 where The Doubletree Hotel and Executive Meeting Center Berkeley Marina will play host. Allhiphop.com’s Steve Raze, Celebrity Publicist ChiQ Simms, Source Magazine’s Carlton Wade, MTV's Jayson Rodriques, Down Magazine's Big Hawk, XXL's Brandon Peters as well as Carl Cherry, and Murder Dog Magazine's Black Dog Bone will be among the panelists offering advice while taking note of the attending talent pool. The casting director from BET’s Wild Out Wednesday will pick from the PPR 101 showcase contestants to feature on the highly successful video show, 106 & Park. Only 20 PPR 101 Compilation CD. A cooperative endeavor with DJ KSB, Volume one of the compilation will feature some of the best talent who have performed and/or participated in a previously held PPR 101 seminar/showcase. “For many independent artists, we act as their unofficial publicist, via PPR 101. Long after PPR 101 has left their city, we continue to advise many past participants on how to build on their existing momentum. Having music included on the compilation cd affords the artists music reviews by top entertainment journalists and exposure in additional markets, even when they aren’t present. PPR 101 is not just an event; it’s a relationship of results, explains ChiQ Simms, event organizer and celebrity publicist.” Past PPR 101 showcase winners like Brittany Starr of Dallas, Texas have gone on to New York and Chicago earning a music video and opportunity to work with Twista. Starr took second place at New York’s premiere A&R talent scouting event Blaze the Stage and currently has several major labels bidding for her. Starr hit the BET 106 & Park stage January 28 and won with more than 50% of the vote. Her win landed an opportunity to be heard of the Tom Joyner Morning show and a slot as the opening act for Comedians J Anthony Brown and Sheryl Underwood. New Orleans hiphop rock star of MGG Entertainment, Michael Carlione and Yung Chase of 100 Entertainment have both performed on Bet’s 106 & Park after participating in PPR 101. The T.L. Bandits participated in PPR 101 Dallas, Texas and have recorded with several national artists while waiting for their 106 & Park invite along with Da Fam Game from New Orleans, Just One of Dallas, Texas. Troy Mann of Atlanta and Nicolay AKA are two PPR 101 alumni have competed against each other on March 11th broadcast. PPR 101 has been hosted In New Orleans, Atlanta, Memphis, Dallas, and Las Vegas with plans in action for The Bay Area, Arizona and Miami this spring/summer. “This is the first event of its kind, Simms continues, to educate aspiring entertainers on how to secure editorial coverage on their talent and/or craft and career altering media exposure opportunities.” Simms has devoted her entire career to securing press for entertainers, causes, politicians and pastors.
